Maggie Smith surrealistic painting in watercolor.
A wonderfull and very characteristic actress. For this painting I painted her in the role she played in the series ‘Downton Abbey’. The life of nobility in a different era in Great Brittain.
I love Maggie for showing and keeping her face just the way it grew into. Wrinkles speak so much. They tell the story of our life. Was it a joyful one, are you a joyful person or a very critical or anything in between. Why hide this is something I ask myself when I see a face full of chemicals that erases your unique face?

In this role of Maggie you see her with her stick. A stick that also says so much. A beautiful grip which she holds in a very distinctive way. To give the painting also a wink I not only wanted to paint only this one hand. I made this hand also surrealistic large. Large enough to bring her face in the side of her hand. This certain look in her eye which her eyebrow above puts more emphasis on and a touch of her head over the hand.
