Enlightment with a lotusflower is one of my paintings featured in the magazine ‘Artist Closeup’ an American magazine about fine art.
My inspiration to make a painting with a lotusflower has to do with its symbolicism. This beautiful flower needs mud to blossom from, it can reach an age of 1000 years, is no family of the waterlily. This really makes my mind wander. Something so beautiful grows out of mud. The lotusflower is also the symbol of Buddhism.
‘Enlightment with a lotusflower’ is a watercolorpainting in a large seize, 60×80 cm. It’s the largest paper made as a loose leaf of paper. For that reason it shows a very nice unregular border. Have a look at the video I made of the ‘coming to life’ of this painting where I show you this border in close up.
‘Enlightment with lotusflower’ for that reason is glued in a special way on a mount. Normally watercolor paintings are glued behind a mount.
In ‘Enlightment with a lotusflower’ I included wool also. The wool is visible at the backside of the flowerpetals. There are more watercolor paintings available within my collection where I use wool also.
