After three decades as a classical violinist, I discovered that leaving the orchestra was not an ending, but a beginning. In 2020, at the age of 53, I returned to the visual arts that had captivated me as a child—this time through the fluid medium of watercolor.

When I listen to music I see colors. Those are the colors that reflect my personality and how I experience the music I am listening to.

My paintings are born from a deep need to stay connected to wonder. Each brushstroke is a conversation with my inner child—that part of me that still believes in joy, dreams freely about futures yet to unfold, and imagines the lives of people from distant pasts. Where the violin demanded precision, watercolor invites spontaneity. Where orchestral performance required conformity, painting celebrates the beautiful accidents that happen when pigment meets water.

I work with simple forms and flowing textures, guided first by light—the warm golds and oranges that speak of hope, dancing against the cool blues and purples of reflection and shadow. My compositions embrace minimal detail, allowing atmosphere and emotion to emerge through the natural behavior of the medium itself. Each painting becomes a peaceful sanctuary where I believe, despite everything, that genuine human connection is still possible.

These works are not escapes from reality, but gentle assertions of what reality could be. They are painted prayers for a world where relationships flow as naturally as watercolor on paper—sometimes unpredictable, always authentic, ultimately beautiful.

Through my art, I invite viewers to remember their own capacity for wonder, to find moments of peace in a chaotic world, and to believe alongside me that creativity is not a luxury, but a necessity for the human spirit.

Living and working in Kortenhoef, Netherlands, I am a self-taught watercolor artist whose work explores themes of joy, imagination, and the essential role of art in daily life.
